What Does the County Controller Do?
- The Controller supervises the financial accounts of the county including
- Auditing accounts of County offices
- Authorizing all County payments
- Advising County Officials on financial controls
- The Controller is a voting member of the Salary Board and of the Prison Board
- The Controller is the check and balance ensuring County funds are spent in accordance with law

Relevant Experience
- Graduated in 1979 from Gettysburg High School
- Earned an electrical engineering degree from Bucknell University
- Served as a nuclear submarine officer in the U.S. Navy, retiring at the rank of Commander
- Managed programs and systems engineering groups in the private sector
- Appointed Chief Financial Officer for a $17 billion federal procurement, creating the financial and audit processes necessary to meet federal acquisition requirements
- Directed financial and business operation for a $100 million advanced naval systems group
- Earned a law degree from Rutgers Law – Camden
- Twelve years as an Attorney in Adams County, with municipal government experience
- Active in the community through the Adams County Community Foundation, Rotary Club of Gettysburg and other nonprofit organizations
